Signature After Extinction
Ice Civilization expands the “delayed collapse” of ice into the digital realm.
Just as ice slowly melts and returns to water, pixels also disappear into the silence of “0” the moment they lose their light.
Yet complete extinction never truly exists.
Even after the screen is turned off, faint afterimages, traces of water, and a small Signature left upon cold data continue to remain.
This Signature is the smallest unit of existence that persists after all structures have dissolved — the final trace human beings attempt to leave behind.
Within a ritualistic structure where water, vapor, and sound endlessly circulate, I confront a new form of Vanitas in the digital age.
Existence ultimately disappears,
but at the end of that disappearance, there always remains a subtle trace and a lingering sensation of residue.
《얼음 문명》은 얼음의 ‘지연된 붕괴’를 디지털 영역으로 확장한다.
얼음이 천천히 녹아 물로 회귀하듯, 픽셀 또한 빛을 잃는 순간 ‘0’의 침묵 속으로 사라진다.
그러나 완전한 소멸은 존재하지 않는다.
화면이 꺼진 뒤에도 희미한 잔광과 물의 흔적, 차가운 데이터 위에 남겨진 작은 시그니처는 끝내 사라지지 않는다.
이 시그니처는 소멸 이후에도 지속되는 존재의 최소 단위이자, 인간이 끝까지 남기려 하는 마지막 흔적이다.
나는 물, 기체, 사운드가 반복적으로 순환하는 제의적 구조 속에서 디지털 시대의 새로운 바니타스를 마주한다.
존재는 결국 사라지지만,
그 사라짐의 끝에는 언제나 미세한 흔적과 잔여의 감각이 남는다.
