뉴욕 MoMA, 테헤란 현대미술관, 그리고 중국미술관 앞 광장에 흩어진 구체(球體)들은 축구공의 기표를 입은 위태로운 지구본들이다.

흐린 하늘 아래, 차갑고 비에 젖은 노면 위에서 이 오브제들은 서로 다른 문명권과 이데올로기를 대변하는 상징적인 공간 속에 묵직한 질문을 던진다. 하나의 규칙 아래 움직이는 스포츠처럼, 현대 사회 역시 보이지 않는 글로벌 질서와 역학 관계의 그물망 속에서 작동한다.

그러나 이 구체들 위에 새겨진 국경과 대륙의 윤곽은 언제든 채이고 굴러갈 수 있는 영토의 가변성과 불안정함을 드러낸다. 서구 현대미술의 중심지에서 출발하여 동양과 중동의 역사적 풍경으로 확장되는 이 시각적 궤적은, 경계선 위에 위태롭게 유예된 인류 문명의 단면을 냉정하게 관조하려는 시도이다.

​The spheres scattered across the plazas in front of New York's MoMA, the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, and the National Art Museum of China are precarious globes clad in the signifier of a soccer ball.

Beneath a gray sky and upon cold, rain-slicked pavement, these objects pose weighty questions within symbolic spaces that represent distinct civilizations and ideologies. Much like a sport operating under a single set of rules, contemporary society functions within an invisible web of global order and power dynamics.

Yet, the contours of borders and continents etched onto these spheres reveal the mutability and instability of territories—always vulnerable to being kicked and rolled away.

Expanding from the epicenter of Western modern art to the historic landscapes of the East and the Middle East, this visual trajectory is an attempt to coolly contemplate a cross-section of human civilization, precariously suspended on the borderline.
